About
My name is Malcolm McFee and I have been chopping firewood with mauls and axes since I was a teenager with my Grandfather. My Grandfather ran the chainsaw and as the years passed, I took on doing the chainsawing as well. As I gained more experience cutting firewood, I would always find interesting burls and neat wood pieces that I would collect for future woodworking/art projects (worse case scenario it would become firewood). Then I got into milling lumber and live edge which again was started with my grandfather on a Granberg mill. Eventually I purchased an Alaskan Mill and use it in unison with the Granberg.
My grandfather has since passed away and I continue to cut firewood, find neat wood pieces and mill wood with the hopes that my children or grandchildren can carry on. Over the years, I have gained a large collection of wood that I am starting to now create wood art, benches, signs, cutting boards, and custom pieces for customers that want a unique piece of art/wood. The company that I have started is called UP THE HILL WOOD PRODUCTS. The property in which the wood comes was originally my grandfather’s and when referring to the property he and others would always say it was “up the hill”…so the name stuck and we now live ”up the hill”.
